Today Terry, Rick, and I attended the funeral of dear friend, David Wagner. The service was held at beautiful church. The crucifix was a glass window and light streamed into the nave illuminating those of us who gathered to honor the passing of our friend.
As the light shone down upon us and the many gay men in the pews, I couldn’t help but think about how long religion had held them in the dark by refusing they were part of God’s blessed children. Today; however, the voices of the Portland Gay’s Men Chorus filled the church and our friend’s life partner, Bill Dickey, gave a eulogy that celebrated their love.
When we think of what would WWJD, I think he might say, “I say love it is a flower and you it’s only seed…”
Rest in peace dear friend.
