White House Christmas Cards 2013

2013-White-House-PopUp-Christmas-CardTerry received two great Christmas cards from the White House this year. The first is an amazing pop-up card of the White House. The card is exquisite – featuring a tiny US flag on the top, gold foil windows and the Obama family dogs, Sunny and Bo. Sunny and Bo even “signed” the card, something that we with furry “children” can appreciate! You can learn more about the artist who created the card below.

The card has become an instant collector’s item. One recently sold for $165 on eBay. My mother would have had this card sealed in plastic from the day it arrived. She knew a collectible when she saw one.

Note from Rick Bean: Not everything my dear mother-in-law thought was collectible really was. She had an extensive McDonald’s plastic stir stick collection.

Note from Terry Bean: Really you got rid of those?

White House Christmas Card for 2013: Designed in Grand Rapids, made in Detroit

The 2013 greeting card was sent out from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, but it was created in Grand Rapids by designer Chris Hankinson…”I’m deeply honored, to put it mildly,” said Hankinson, who lives in Heritage Hill in Grand Rapids.

The second card – an invitation to a 2013 Holiday White House Reception was created by 17-year-old artist Senghor Robinson. Hover over the card to flip this card to read the inside.
