But in Oregon we do have reason to celebrate! We’ve made LGBTQ history by electing the nation’s first openly LGBTQ governor, Kate Brown. Governor Brown said in an Washington Blade Interview regarding what her election would mean to the LGBTQ community, “You can’t be what you can’t see…If I can be a role model for one young person that decides that their life is worth living because there’s someone like them in the world, it’s worth it.”
The glass ceiling was not been broken for our country’s highest office. Women today are looking up to see the soles of size 11 work boots and wing tips standing in their way. But hope for the future is strong with women like Governor Brown leading the way.
